Family ~ "What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories." ~ George Eliot

Phillip Denver Drake

                           A Visit With Dad

                      Phillip Denver Drake 1915-1998

Denver Drake loved his family, loved farming, and loved raising horses!!  He shared his love of farming with his 6 children and shared his knowledge of horses with anyone who needed advice.  They say that in his prime, he could tame almost any horse.  You could see in his face that raising horses was a passion.  His kids throughout the years shared his love and knowledge by participating in 4H and belonging to horse and pony clubs, as well as going on group trail rides with other horse lovers.  There are still signs of his expertise that can be seen even today with his family, clear down to grandchildren and great grandchildren who share his love of horses!

Denver, like Hazel, his wife, loved having company.  They loved playing cards.  No one could walk into the Denver and Hazel Drake house without seeing a competitive Euchre card game being played.  Both Denver and Hazel made winning a challenge.  There are definitely great memories of sharing some family time with Hazel and Denver!!

Although family was extremely important to Hazel & Denver, they also loved their community. If there was a festival, barbecue or church function, Hazel and Denver were there to share in the success.  I think if you brought up the name of Hazel & Denver Drake in about 3 counties of Indiana, someone would say, "Yes, we know them."  Denver and Hazel Drake were just that special!!

We love and miss you Denver!!
