(Poem) Dawn

Dawn

The joyful chatter of the birds
Awakened me at dawn.
The cooing of the turtle dove
Is heard out on the lawn.
The shining rays of morning light;
A quivering of the leaves,
So suddenly dispel the night.
There's a coolness in the breeze.
The new day breaks with golden strands,
A day so fresh and bright,
An instant prayer springs to my lips;
God, thank you! Things are right!
